When it comes to desiring unique and homemade treats from scratch by a local Northland small business, I highly recommend Delightful Baking Company! Baker AND owner Myriam Bouchard offers custom-decorated sugar cookies, giant chocolate chip cookies, pies with flaky crusts, cupcakes, and small cakes that can be personalized based on the occasion and design preferences.
Recently I was in charge of Staff Appreciation Week at my child's school, and I wanted to include cookies as treats for one of the days. I came across Delightful on Facebook, and a mutual friend who had already enjoyed Myriam's cookies said only the best things about the quality and the taste of them. After discussing design ideas with Myriam, she sent me a picture of what she had in mind. I liked the apple-themed cookies along with the price that fit within my budget, so we settled on a date and individual wrapping given extra health precautions during the time of Covid. I couldn't have been happier with how they turned out and with how much the staff loved them!
Myriam says the secret of her sugar cookies is that she doesn't bake them too much and that they are pretty thick from a family recipe being passed from generation to generation involving good quality butter, sugar, flour, vanilla extract, and a little pinch of sea salt. As someone who enjoys eating baked goods rather than doing the actual baking, however Myriam makes her Delightful goodies makes me a super fan and surely a repeat customer! Myriam still manages to work on her yummy creations and successfully (and safely) run her business with three young boys running around, so I stand in awe of her while also standing at my kitchen island and eating one of her cookies.
